Energy, Power & Gas Product White Papers

Oil Gas Power White Paper Series

In his white paper on Hydrogen Energy Storage , Daniel Donatelli, Founder of Secure Supplies Group , discusses the challenges and opportunities driving intense global investment and innovation for environmentally friendly products, technologies, and processes. He introduces the concept of MW Class Hydrogen Energy Storage , Community based green fueling and engineering. He highlights leading companies around the world that have adopted various techniques and technologies to achieve their goals. As well as present some of the secret formulas to making a project successful.

The South African government’s draft IRP2018 (Integrated Resource Plan), constituting the country’s new electricity roadmap to 2030, has been released for public comment.

This important 2018 revision of the ‘living plan’ has been welcomed overall as a big improvement; however, industry stakeholders are not completely satisfied.

As set out in the first instalment, the GoE is committed to undertaking largescale reforms of its highly regulated energy market, in order to attract inward investment and meet its ambitious plans to improve its own transmission and distribution systems, and become a key energy exporter in sub-Saharan Africa.

As set out in the first instalment, the GoE is committed to undertaking largescale reforms of its highly regulated energy market, in order to attract inward investment and meet its ambitious plans to improve its own transmission and distribution systems, and become a key energy exporter in sub-Saharan Africa.

Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) has a lower supply of electricity than any other region in the world, as shown by satellite images depicting the region’s relative lack of nighttime lights. Several studies have quantified this lack of electricity. For example, almost one billion people currently live without electricity, worldwide, of which approximately 600 million reside in SSA.Surveys of households in 22 SSA countries show that just one -third of the population uses electricity. Income levels and geographic location seem to be key determinants of electricity use, as electricity consumers tend to be urban and comparatively better off.

The microgrid market is expected to reach $19 billion by 2024, nearly five times the original valuation of this business space in 2016.

The market growth will be powered by the quest to deliver uninterrupted electricity to remote locations across the globe, according to the recently published Microgrid Market Analysis - Industry Study Research Report 2017-2024.

The future of power and energy in Africa is at a significant junction. African states and the power stakeholders operating within them realise that the impact of providing universal access to affordable energy will not only lead to accelerated economic development but significant social improvements. Yet, to achieve universal access executives have many strategic decisions ahead of them.... The hitherto business as usual of bulk energy production and distribution through coal-fired power plans, centralised grids and public sector monopolies, is quickly coming under threat from new models of energy production and distribution.

Natural gas resources in Tanzania and Mozambique have emerged as a new source of gas supply. While they are poised for export to global gas markets, they can also provide a key source of energy to the rest of Eastern Africa (defined in this paper to include Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi,Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda), where millions of inhabitants are currently living without access to electricity and clean cooking. Natural gas could also potentially be a driver for industrialization and economic growth. But before delving into the potential gas demand and opportunities for gas utilization in the region, it is important to take a step back to analyze the current energy picture in Eastern Africa and look into the social and development plans in place in the region.

The grid solution business of the US-based energy firm, GE Power, has released a white paper revealing plans for energy transmission and distribution across sub Saharan Africa.

The paper, titled ‘Digitization of Energy Transmission & Distribution in Africa’, addresses both opportunities and challenges facing the energy industry in the region.

The company has evaluated smart technology and its ability to transform grids, with smart grids offering efficient, reliable, and affordable power, as well as providing energy security.

Energy is central to nearly every major challenge and opportunity the world faces. However, one fifth of the world population still lacks access to energy and 3 billion people rely on wood, coal or animal waste for cooking and heating. Today, sustainable energy and climate change are big global concerns.
